Blacksad Cringle

For Christmas I got this amazing artbook from the very talented illustrator Juanjo Guarnido and writer Juan Dìaz Canale. It´s the "making off Black sad" book and it´s full of thumbnail paintings, drawings, scribbles, poses and all the pages of the first graphic novel in sketch format. It´s so great and inspirational for my own projects. I recomend it for all you animators/comic artists out there.

My new work space!!

Since I´ve just had my birthday I thought I´d show an update of my working space as my dad got me this really nice scanner/printer :D I can now doodle and scan it in without spending time fixing up photos in photoshop. I also like it because it´s all black and shiny with a mini screen with flashy lights!! :D The Gromit mug was also a gift from my mum, now I make an excuse to have a cup of tea just to see his nose glow red.
The awesome pop-up card is by my good friend Michael Brady. http://gumpstudios.com/ It depicts two of his imaginative chaacters battling a birthday lizard cake monster (felizard cumpleaños) and saving my birthday.

New Showreel with Poppy Cat footage

I´ve finally gotten round to uploading my showreel containing hand drawn bits of animation, digitally hand drawn and also digital cut out anmation too. And yes I´ve finally uploaded some of the poppy cat animation that I worked on. I wanted to add a lot more, but it would just become too boring in the end. Does anyone think I should mix up the order of the poppy cat footage with some other bits of animation?
Anyways, enjoy!!

Ciao for now

El Salon de Comic

Hello all,

Not too recently, but I thought it worth sharing anyways, I went to an anime and manga convention. My second one I´ve been to ever. I really need to go to more, they can be real fun.

A funny story, when me and a friend and my bro got there we saw this rather long que, so we decided to go to the nearest bar and have some orange juice until the que got shorter. After we finished we went back and shockingly, the que had grown 10 times bigger O_O. We decided to go round Granada city and buy some shoes etc for th next 4 hours until the que died down which it did thankfully and we finally managed to get in.

This here is a small segment of that monstorous que.
here are some guys dressed up, by the way I have to point out, these are not my photos. As I didn´t take any I asked a friend if I could upload some of his. :)
Hehe, I remember this guy walking about.
Near the end they had this amazing japanese rock band perform some great head bangin´tunes!!! Also there was this amusing contest where people would go up and dance to japanese tecno music in a bizarre fashion. Some surprising people won.
I did some sketches, but they were shockingly bad so I won´t be uploading them.

Ciao for now

Amika turn around

So for my comic I´ve decided on an older version of my character for the protagonist, though I´m unsure of her personality, but I don´t think it´d be a "hip chick" like I´ve drawn her here. This was just for fun that I wanted to share with everyone. Enjoy!! :)

Fantasy Poster

Finally finished my fantasy poster for my comic. The designs for the characters will probbaly change, I´m thinking of making the girl a little older thanks to a friend´s advice and I will definitely be changing some of the bad guy designs too. Hope you like it!

Fantasy comic

Hi have been working on this project of mine for a while, I almost have the base for the story finished though I do need to still nail some things down. I have been having some help with the story side of things from my friends Sharlene and Melissa. I have a lot to work on in terms of visuals, but I thought I´d upload some design work in case anyone is interested.

I´ll continue uploading location cocepts and design work the more I work on this project.

Enjoy :)

SKULL GIRLS!!!!!

I have recently been hired as an animator for the game Skull girls. It´s going to be such an experience animating 2d characters for this extremly aestetic 2d fighter. The visuals are stunning and the game play looks very fun. I hope to learn a lot from it. One thing I learnt while doing tests to get the contract was that you must use all your animation knowledge to make each movement very clear to what´s happening and snap from one key frame back to the other and the same to most extreme positions while adding subtle anticipations within very short spaces of time. This is one frame after the initial attack from one of my tests I sent in.

Here´s a video of the game

More bus train, cafe and other observation drawings.

Tight rope walkers in bournemouth gardens.

A good friend of mine on the left drawn at comic con in London.

These two picture are of empoyees at King rollo, not the page of little heads though, they are the usuals on the bus.
Here´s a quick self portrait of the time along with some more bus people
People waiting at Poppy cafe.
People on the train, obviously bored and i actually like how the guy in the top right at neros cafe turned out.

Yes an odd little dragon snail thingy hehe

These are two good friends of mine ho I grew up with in Spain at school as we play cards and the guy on the right is at a bar with his kid and family.

Tae Kwon do and stuff

So I´ve been going to Tae kwon do lessons and was very kindly invited to come along to a tournament and demonstration thingy that was going on, so I said yes!!!! :D Got my sktechbook and headed on over with them in the car. Was great, there were some impressive fights, I need to bbe quicker at capturing fighting movements on paper though. SOme kick was doing jumping outer crescent kicks while this other black belt was ducking under them, crazy stuff and that was in the sparring, not the demonstration stuff 0_0

LoL is a barrel of laughs

My brother got me into a little game called LoL, It´s a strategy game from an offshoot of people who worked on WoW I think. It stands for League of Legends. These two are a couple of the very any characters you can choose from, my main is Anivia, the crio Pheonix you see above, she kicks ass with her being reborn technique and ice barrage attacks! The other is Riven, a female warroir who broke her sword as a statement, her ultimate attack rebuilds her massive sword to squish enemies.

POPPY CAT

http://www.poppycat.com/

Hi all, this is where I had been working while in Devonshire!! It was a great small house studio with great people in. Lots of talent and laughs around. Here´s a link to the official website, it should show you what sort of stuff I had been working on. I´ll get round to uploading some of my Poppy cat work in the future. :)

From Poppy Cat to Poppy Cafe

At the weekend I frequented this lovely cafe called Poppy Cafe. The owners got to know me...ish, as the artist hehe. It was a good way to talk to people as they´d start conversations after seeing me drawing them. I had a good time and got to sharpen my skills and home my style.

I stopped going after a while as we had over time at work and I got tired out with that and other personal projects at home. That plus being a lazy bas....person.

I decided to draw the tables since they were interesting, like 1950s diners. And yes before you ask, I did see a dinosaur, he was enjoying his cup of tea and fry up :).This man was a talkative guy and bought me some tea which was very nice of him. While sketching him he asked if I could add to his hair on top as he could do with the extra. Do you think I went too far? :P
Randoms drinking, putting on jackets and crouching over a walking cane.

On the bus

When I got offered a job in Devon working on the TV series poppy cat I had to wake up early and grab a bus to Hontion each morning. Here are some pages from my handly little sketchbook of some of the people I would travel with.

Most people were normal, but sometime i´d get strange people to travel with. Once a hippy couple brought their travle sick dogs on that vomited eveywhere. It smelt lovely that day on the bus, gagging for air for 25 minutes hehe. never had I been so happy to get to work.

This guy liked red, his phone was red, his colour matching tracksuite was all red and his bag was red. Is it a statement or a try at fashion?
The guy on the left had an awesome comb over, I just had to draw it, heehee, am I evil? 0_0

This guy looked a little like my dad when he had a moustache. Dad denies tthis claim.I sadly didn´t actually see batman on my many bus journies :(

Hello Everyone (or anyone hehe).

This is a blog that I´m finally getting around to uploading, featuring my sketchbook work of places I go and people I see and my experiences among other small things.
I will also be uploading any of my personal projects to this blog for people to follow the progress of. I hope you enjoy :)

Ciao for now
